The Commercial Code (Código de comercio, Degree 2-70 of the Congress of the Republic) regulates commercial transactions and provides the following structures: General partnership, Joint -Liability Companies, Join Stock Companies, Limited Liability Corporations , Stock companies, or Corporations.

Considering the importance of foreign investment in the devolopment of countries, Guatemala has a Foreign Invest Law that defines specific details  for the investor. (Degree 9-98 of the Congress of the Republic)
